At Gilia Practice, I use a combination of hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and transformational life coaching to help people change patterns that no longer serve them. I work with clients across Glasgow, Scotland and throughout the UK through online sessions.
Many of the challenges people experience, such as anxiety, fears, habits or feeling stuck, are learned patterns. When we work with the mind in the right way, those patterns can often change more quickly than people expect.
The approach we use depends on what is happening for you and how the issue presents. People come for support with many different challenges. Some examples are listed below, although this is not an exhaustive list.
You don’t need to know exactly how to describe what is happening or why you feel the way you do. That is something we can explore together during our conversation.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, where many emotional responses, habits and behavioural patterns are stored.
During hypnosis you enter a relaxed, focused state similar to daydreaming. You remain aware and in control throughout the session.
Working in this state allows us to update patterns that may have developed in response to past experiences.
Hypnotherapy can support people with issues such as:
• Anxiety and overthinking
• Trauma responses
• Phobias and fears
• Sleep problems and insomnia
• Pain management
• Smoking or vaping habits
• Weight management
• Stammering or stuttering
Many people are surprised by how calm and natural hypnosis feels.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP focuses on how the mind processes experiences and creates emotional responses.
Sometimes the way a memory, thought pattern or trigger is stored in the mind keeps a problem repeating itself.
NLP techniques work by helping the brain change how it processes those patterns, often allowing the emotional response to shift quickly.
NLP is often used for:
• Anxiety linked to specific situations
• Fears and phobias
• Trauma responses
• Confidence and performance
• Changing unhelpful habits or behaviours
Because everyone processes experiences differently, the techniques used are always tailored to the individual.
Transformational Life Coaching
Life coaching at Gilia Practice goes deeper than direction and goal setting. This is work for people who feel lost, stuck or disconnected from who they really are. Perhaps you have lost sight of yourself through years of focusing on others. Perhaps something simply feels muted, and you cannot quite name what.
Through a structured programme of one-to-one sessions, delivered either weekly or in an intensive format, I help you reconnect with the most authentic version of yourself. Not through advice or action plans, but through a process of genuine self-discovery that works from the inside out.
This approach can be particularly helpful during major life transitions, times of identity change, moments of uncertainty about direction or purpose, and those quieter periods where life looks fine on the outside but does not feel that way within.
Real change does not come from doing things differently. It comes from knowing yourself more fully. That is what this work is for.

What Happens in a Session
Sessions take place online via Zoom, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home.
At the start of the session we discuss what you would like help with and how it presents for you. From there I will guide you through the most appropriate approach, which may involve hypnotherapy, NLP techniques or coaching.
For hypnosis you simply sit comfortably while I guide you into a relaxed state. You remain aware and can speak at any time.
For NLP sessions you may talk more during the process as we work through techniques together.
At the end of the session you simply open your eyes and continue with the rest of your day.
